Bio

Like many computational and systems neuroscientists, my undergraduate training was in engineering. I obtained a B. Tech. (Hons.) from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IIT KGP) in Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology. I then switched gears and obtained my PhD in Neuroscience from The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where I trained in auditory neuroscience with Dr. Xiaoqin Wang. Following my PhD, I obtained postdoctoral training in two visual neuroscience labs – with Dr. David Ferster (Northwestern) and Dr. Winrich Freiwald (Rockefeller). I returned to the auditory system when I started my lab at Pitt in 2015. In my spare time I enjoy music, reading, and several amateur pursuits including guitar, running, and tennis. (Here’s my Neurotree).
